Things are Blooming in Kindergarten

Monday, May 4, 2015

Last week (Tuesday), we made and planted our greenhouses. Take a look:

Inside the greenhouses are lima beans and some students also used seeds they found outside at recess. Students placed their seeds inside a paper towel then into a plastic bag. We then put water in the bag. We are lucky to have the best classroom for greenhouses! Our windows get great sun exposure for most of the day. I took a look this morning and some seeds have already begun to sprout and have roots. The students will get a chance to take a better look and spend some time observing the greenhouses tomorrow.

  • Tomorrow (Tuesday) is dress like your favorite zoo animal day.
  • Field trip to the Lincoln Park Zoo is next Thursday, May 14th. Please turn in permission slips and $5 ASAP. We are able to have a good amount of chaperones, so just mark on the permission slip if you would like to chaperone. I will be contacting chaperones soon. Students are to dress for the weather and walking on this day. They are also to bring a completely disposable lunch.
  • The Donors Choose for a new easel expires on Sunday and has not yet been funded. There is nearly $166 left on the project. Please help to get the word out so this very important classroom need gets funded.
  • Happy Mother’s Day in advance to all the Room 104 mothers! Thanks for all you do!
