The Scholastic Book Fair at Ray will be taking place during the end of April. Today in student home folders you will see little bags and a note. The note says:

Our class is collecting funds for our All for Books program. By donating $1 or loose change in this baggie, you help us to:

  • purchase books for Ray’s classroom libraries and the school library
  • give more children greater access to books
  • help get more kids reading and kids reading more

The All for Books money we collect also helps readers beyond our school and community, Scholastic Book Fairs matches monetary donations with a donations of up to one million books to the Kids In Need Foundation and Kids in Distressed Situations, Inc.

Please send your donations and the attached signed book slip back to school with your child by Thursday, April 2nd. Your act of kindness helps to bring more knowledge, imagination, and love for reading into the lives of our students.

THANK YOU!

Not only is it a great cause and good thing to do but the class that donates the most money will get to choose between a prize of a homework pass or an extra recess.

I don’t feel the need to stress the importance of high quality books in our classrooms and school libraries. Let’s all take part in this however we can.

On that note, I also recently applied for and won a grant from our network within CPS for $500 worth of books for our classroom library! I am very excited about this and I know the students will be too when the books arrive. I will mostly be getting books that relate to our science and social studies themes. Nonfiction books are really popular in Room 104.
