We will use and write them in sentences. We will also sing our sight word songs.

Letter of the Week: Ll
Please have your child cut out images from the newspaper or magazines that begin with our letter of the week so we can make a letter collage book. Students may bring in the images any day throughout the week.
Previous Letters: Mm, Aa, Ff, Cc, Pp, Bb, Hh
- Greeting – Each student will greet five others by shaking their hand and saying hello or good morning
- Activity – Monster Poem
- Sharing – Students will share their favorite literacy center and why
- Please discuss this with your child and prepare them for what they will share
- Word Work – Rainbow Words, Read Around the Room, Letter Ll activity, Roll a Sight Word
- Writing – I like/I don’t like
- Read to Self and Read to Someone – focus on identifying sight words
- Computer – Game Goo, iPad games
- Listening- Students will listen to More Spaghetti, I Say! then write a sentence about the book and draw a corresponding picture
- Teacher Time – Sight word practice, letter practice, weekly story, sound boxes
- Read with our Third Grade Buddies
- Complete the predictable sentence, “Here is my __________.” Each week with our predictable sentences we make a class book that stays in our Book Center. Students may put the books in their Read to Self bags to read and/or read them when doing Read to Someone.
- Phonemic Awareness
- Our comprehension skill this week is text and graphic features (heading, captions, etc. in non fiction books). Our main story is What Do Wheels Do All Day? but we will also read other non fiction books.
- List words that begin with the letter Ll.
- Sight Word Songs.

Theme (Science/Social Studies): Leaves
- Please send leaves that you find outside to school in plastic bag.
- Read a leaf non fiction book and create a leaf anchor chart

- While working in our independent journals this week we will continue to focus on all the skills we learned last week. New writing paper will also be introduced this week.

- Since the beginning of the year we have ended each day with our closing circle. During this three students are asked to share something they liked that day and then we sing our good bye song. Recently we have added a new part. Three students are asked to share something someone in room 104 did for them that was nice that day. We then thank that student.

- The next Scholastic Books order is due Friday, November 14th. You may order by going online (https://clubs2.scholastic.com), directions have been given, or handing the order and check to me. Please consider ordering books from Scholastic. Not only are they cheap but all books bought earn the classrooms bonus points. With those points I am able to get resources and books for the classroom!
- Library books are due every Friday.
- There is no school for students on Friday, November 7.
- There is no school on Tuesday, November 11 because of Veteran’s Day.
- Report Card Pick Up is on Wednesday, November 12. If you have not returned your time request form please do so as soon as possible.
- Both our librarian (Ms. Collins – firstname.lastname@example.org) and our art teacher (Ms. Dana – email@example.com) are looking for parents to volunteer in their classrooms. Please contact them if you would like to volunteer.
- I have a project up on a website called Donors Choose. Please consider looking at the website and donating any amount to help fund my project (http://www.donorschoose.org/project/help-us-soar-through-technology/1316674/?rf=page-siteshare-2014-09-project-teacher_2480453). I am asking for technology that will directly benefit all the students currently in Room 104 and in the future. Also encourage your family and friends to donate.
- It is not a requirement to work on ST Math (JiJi) at home but many students have expressed interest in doing so. Activation codes have been sent home though some students are still learning their password.
- Consider collecting Box Tops. They are on many of the everyday items that you buy. Turn them into me or by the security desk on the first floor. Each Box Top earns money for the school. http://www.boxtopsforeducation.info
