Meet Ms. Maltz

Welcome to Room 104! This is going to be a very exciting year.

Here is a little background on me:

I grew up in the suburbs, but after moving to Chicago I realized I am really more of a city girl.

I graduated from National-Louis University with a degree in Elementary Education. In May 2011, I completed my master’s degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago to become a Reading Specialist. I am currently taking the classes required to get an endorsement in English as a Second Language, which will be completed in May!

After working one year in the suburbs I came to CPS and have been here ever since. My experience includes teaching kindergarten, second grade, and fifth grade. I have also been an aide and substitute. My CPS experience includes Blaine Elementary, Bell Elementary, and The Nettelhorst School. This will be my third year teaching kindergarten at Ray and I truly love and enjoy it.

During my free time I love to read, exercise, travel (Last winter break I went to South Africa. The students love looking at the pictures of the animals I saw while on safari and the penguins on a beach near Cape Town.), go to the movies, go to restaurants, go to museums, and I have recently taken up cooking. In April 2013, I welcomed an english bulldog puppy into my life that I named Stella. She is a great dog and we spend lots of time on walks, going to the dog park, and just hanging out around the apartment. My students love to hear the stories about how loud Stella snores and the new milestones she hits. Because she is too cute to pass up, below is a picture of Stella from her first birthday in January 2014. Clearly she was not a fan of the hat.

I post newsletters weekly and updates and reminders as necessary. I suggest you also check the pages on the top often as they are frequently updated. At the bottom of the blog you will see a follow button. Please click on that and enter your email address to subscribe. Once that is done you will receive an email every time I make a post. I encourage all Room 104 families to subscribe.

Our excellent kindergarten team will be working hard all year to meet the needs of all students.
