   Morning Meeting:

  • This week students will do the 1, 2, 3, 4 Greeting, the parts of a insect song Activity, and for Sharing students will share which insect they would like to be and why.

Literacy/Literacy Centers:

  • What we will be doing at centers this week:

    • Teacher Time – Dibels assessment

    • Word Work – Rainbow Words, sight word stamping, roll a sight word, word family eggs

    • Writing – Free write/write the read and make believe parts of The Very Hungry Caterpillar

    • Listening – Listen to If You Give a Pig a Pancake

    • Read to Self and Read to Someone – Find/identify sight words

Theme (Science/Social Studies): Butterflies

  • We currently have caterpillars in the room and we will be watching them over time turn to chrysalis then to butterflies

  • Life Cycle of a Caterpillar

  • As a class we will create our own very hungry caterpillar

Things to Know:

  • Please check regularly and use the Things To Be Working On At Home link to above.

  • Seeking a new home for some goldfish and water snails! We have five goldfish and four snails that will need new homes. They are very good pets. If you would like all or some or have any questions please contact me.

  • Insect Projects are due Thursday, May 22nd. Students will be presenting on Thursday and Friday. We will have our own mini science fair with the other kindergarten classes on Friday morning. We will go to the other rooms to see their projects.

  • I am looking for volunteers to help me level books. I need people to come in starting at lunch and throughout the rest of the day. It is a process I can teach you in just a few minutes and you will only need to come in for 15 to 30 minutes at a time. Any help would be greatly appreciated so please let me know if you can help.

  • At this point students should be able to comfortably count to 100 by 1’s, 5’s, and 10’s. Practice if your child is unable to. For the students who are able to, practice counting faster and higher.

  • Also at this point students should be able to identify numbers up to 165 comfortably, many are doing way beyond that. If you child is unable to, please practice.

  • Students will attend an Asian Pacific Heritage Assembly on Thursday

  • Remember to practice those sight words daily!

  • The LAST Scholastic Book Orders are due Wednesday, May 28.

  • Continue working with ST math/JiJi.

  • Library books are due every Tuesday.

  • There is no school on Monday, May 26 in observance of Memorial Day
