Things to Work on at Home

Here is a list of activities you can practice at home with your child:

  • Read at least 20 minutes a night
  • Practice writing first and last name
  • Practice writing the alphabet
  • Practice writing numbers 1-50
  • Here is a link to primary writing paper:
  • Practice counting by 1’s to 80
  • Practice counting by 5’s to 80
  • Practice counting by 10’s to 100
  • Letter identification (out of sequence)
  • Number Identification 1-50 (out of sequence)
  • Practice putting numbers 1 – 50 in order
  • Missing number (1, _, 3) (12, _, 14)
  • Letter sounds – here is a fun song we use in class:
  • Short vowel sounds
  • Long vowel sounds –
  • Chopping out words
  • Identifying the beginning of a story
  • Knowing if  a story is fiction or non-fiction
  • Rainbow write sight words



  • Practice tying shoes
  • Practice zipping and closing buttons
  • Getting on winter gear independently
  • Practice reading color words
  • The students have been learning the sign language (ASL) alphabet, below is a picture to help reinforce at home:

Also, please continue to study the letters we have gone over in class and practice reading and writing our sight words.
