Welcome to Room 104! This is going to be a very exciting year.

Here is a little background on me:

I grew up in the suburbs, but after moving to Chicago I realized I am really more of a city girl.

I graduated from National-Louis University with a degree in Elementary Education. In May 2011, I completed my master’s degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago to become a Reading Specialist. I am currently taking the classes required to get an endorsement in English as a Second Language.

After working one year in the suburbs I came to CPS and have been here ever since. My experience includes teaching kindergarten, second grade, and fifth grade. I have also been an aide and substitute. My CPS experience includes Blaine Elementary, Bell Elementary, and The Nettelhorst School. This will be my second year teaching kindergarten at Ray and I truly love and enjoy it.

During my free time I love to read, exercise, do Pilates, travel (I will be traveling to South Africa this winter break!), go to the movies, eat out, and I am currently learning how to cook (something that is completely new to me!). This past spring I welcomed an english bulldog puppy into my life that I named Stella. She is a great dog and we spend lots of time on walks, going to the dog park, and just hanging out around the apartment. My students love to hear the stories about how loud Stella snores and the new milestones she hits. Because she is too cute to pass up, below is a picture of Stella in early July 2013 at 5 months old. It was taken at the dog beach, a place she was not too excited about. By the time the 2013-2014 school year is over, she will probably be full grown and look completely different.

I post on the blog at least once a week and continue to update the pages on the top regularly. I will update the entire blog soon before school starts. At the bottom of the blog you will see a follow button. Please click on that and enter your email address to subscribe. Once that is done you will receive an email every time I make a post. I encourage all Room 104 families to subscribe.

Our excellent kindergarten team will be working hard all year to meet the needs of all students.
