Theme: Our theme this week is the 5 Senses

  • Label a person and where all the senses are – write words about those senses

  • Take a Nature Walk – write down things you see and hear while on the walk

  • Smell – things I like to smell; write, draw, and label

  • Taste Test!

  • Feely Box – feel different things in a box they cannot see

  • Make a flip chart on all the 5 sense


  • We will learn how to write different invitations this week; like birthday, come to my classroom, and come to my house. We will also continue to independently journal.

  • This week our phonics lessons will focus on words that start with /l/ and we will revisit the word families of /at/, /et/, and /it/.


  • Picture graph of our favorite season.

  • I Spy with shapes.

  • Number order.

  • Intro to the dime.


Literacy/Literacy Centers:

  • Writing Center: Rainbow write our sight words and pick a prompt about healthy flowers.

  • Art Center: Students will trace and cut out their hand then glue on things that feel different.

  • Math Center: Counting and adding nickels and pennies.

  • Listening Center: Listen to Noisy Nora then write a sentence and draw a picture about the story.

  • ABC Center: Sequencing with four events.

  • Read Around the Room: Students will find word that have an /l/ in the beginning around the room and in books and write them down.

  • For our Journeys curriculum we will read a story called Zinnia‚Äôs Flower Garden. Our goals this week are Sequence of Events and Visualize.

Social Studies:

  • Character Education -Strong Feelings.

  • Where we live.

  • Our Field Trip to the Shedd Aquarium is on Wednesday, April 24th. Please pack completely disposable lunch as we will be eating at the aquarium. Also, make sure your student is on time that day. They will be here for the complete school day.

  • This is a fun video we have been using to learn our 3-D Shapes: Beware, it will stay in your head for a long time!

  • Some of the greenhouses we made a few weeks ago are sprouting!

  • On Earth Day (Monday) we will walk around the playground and clean up any trash that may be on the ground.
